The 6th Sense Crash 100 X Crankbait Review

Spread the love

I’ve always been a sucker for a good squarebill crankbait and dirt shallow chucking and winding.  I gave the 6th Sence Crash 100x Crankbait a crash test in the spirit of the approaching summer to see if it holds up with all crankbait techniques. The packaging says it’s designed for “crashing thick cover and ripping out of grass.” So that’s what I set out to do. But you’ll notice a fine paint job with realistic contours around the gill plate and body scales right out of the package. Weighing in at 5/8 oz, the body profile is beefy and wide. And the 3D features add to the overall body size. It appears to be built for rugged terrain.

Crankbait Hardware

Jason holds out the Crash 100X Crankbait hooks.

The hooks are sharp enough to stick and hold most fish I think. It tends to hang up on everything (including my sleeve). But This is the mark of a good, sharp pair of #2 hooks. However, if you want to upgrade, It’s not a bad idea; It’s difficult to say how long the stock hooks will last, but they are ready to go out of the package. I intentionally fished the Crash 100X on lakes with grass to see how well it rips free. I like it. You’ll feel a pullback and immediately feel comfortable ripping this thing free on 14 lb mono. 6th Sence delivered on that promise.

Split Rings

Jason holds the 6th Sense Crush 100x Crankbait in his hand.

The split rings appear thin but tough enough for a few trips out. But I’d upgrade to Owner Super Wire to be on the safe side. And that goes for the oval line tie as well. Enough “crashing” and hauling in big fish will wear the stock hardware down quickly, I think.

 Action

This is where this bait shines. It dives quickly and has a nice, erratic wobble that vibrates your rod tip. But when I burn and dead-stop it, the bait has a subtle twitch, almost a quarter-roll action. And then it raises off. The rattle system is subtle and meant to be fished around shallow bass. Around rocks, the Smash 100x deflects nicely or slides over them and produces a subtle knock sound.

I’m impressed by how fast the Crash 100x ascends on its pause, unlike other types of crankbaits. I can work it through thick grass and wood, and over stumps. But in moments when I rely on that buoyancy, it provides this fast. This can be a problem when I dive it to the 5 ft maximum and wish to hold it there across gravel and tree limbs, but it’s a good problem to have in my opinion. This is a solid-action bait and it’s designed for crashing into objects while using various crankbait techniques. I’d say 6th sense delivered on this bait.

Final Impressions

Overall, the 6th Sence Crash 100x Crankbait is a tough little crankbait that delivers on its promise. It has an erratic action, knocks well against structure, and has a subtle rattle chamber. It rises quickly allowing you to get through the toughest cover and has a realistic 3D body type. I’ll be throwing this lure throughout summer, especially around gravel and large rocks. This is the crankbait to pick up when you want to kick in the door and announce your presence to unsuspecting bass.
