Evolution Fishing sent me their new Big Bait Roll- Up bag for review. At first glance (and touch), this bag is built for larger baits. Your standard glide baits would fit best. I found that common swim baits with a soft paddle tail get compressed and bend the shape of the tail. But baits with a hard body or ridged wedge tail seem to hold up nice. It comes in a 10″ and 14″ size and rolls up and fits anywhere on my boat. It has a tough material, water proof. I’m told it’s made of a tough tarpaulin and PVC. It feels durable when rolled up and buckled.
Compartments
The case has a 4-compartment system. Each holds either a 10″ or 14″ (depending on the size bag) or several smaller baits depending on your preference. The clear plastic material is tough and able to withstand a good poke without allowing penetration. I’ve managed to roll up my glide baits and store them several times and I’m not seeing any wear on the plastic. The backing material is extra tough, like the sleek material of a tent but impenatrable. Each compartment uses a strong velcro strip that remains closed with weep holes at the bottom for water shed. They do a good job of keep water out.

Optimized Space & Buckles
The Big Bait Bag can hold at least four large baits, depending on the size you go with, and it rolls out into four easy to access compartments. Additionally, I can load this bag with baits, roll It up, and it doesn’t feel too bulky. It still slips well between seats or into boat hatch compartments, and it’s easy to grab by the top straps. The front of the bag comes with with a zippered pocket. This is perfect for extra clippers, split ring pliers, and up-grade hooks. The whole bag snaps close with two heavy front buckles. It still optimizes space even when rolled out, and it folds into a compact, envelope-shaped case.
It’s a perfect traveling case for big bait enthusiasts or weekend anglers looking to target giants with only big baits. Many anglers like myself, find it difficult to fish only with a big bait all day with limited bites while the experiencing temptation of grabbing a drop shot or jig persists. It cuts out any temptation of packing any soft plastics when all your big baits can be stored and easily accessed from one bag.
Final Thoughts
The Evolution Big Bait Bag is a fantastic storage system that uses very good quality material and provides optimal space for boaters and weekend bank anglers. It fits well into boat compartments and back packs like the Evolution Drift Series Backpack for example, where it would fit nicely along side tackle trays in the main body. Â Its features allow the bag to get drenched and still shed enough water from the exterior and pockets to protect your baits. The materials are tough enough to withstand a large gauge hook pressing into it while stored.
